Ate: Dan Ta (egg tart)
A common yum cha dessert we never thought much of the egg tart. Sure some have been good and others bad but none really stood out. Until Golden Gate Bakery.
We can't even pin point what makes these particular egg tarts so amazing. We'll try:
1) Eating straight from the oven helps
2) Really really good pastry. It's dan ta pastry but is so layered and crisp that the technique could be French
3) The egg custard was not too firm not too runny and very well flavoured
Unlike other bloggers we don't use this word often but this could have been a perfect dan ta. Shame it's on the other side of the world.
