The food at Chaco Bar isn’t ground breaking but it is thoroughly enjoyable. Simple ingredients, minimal flavouring, charcoal grilled. The smokiness from the charcoal grill makes a huge difference. The sake selection is not the best (or cheapest) I’ve tasted but went a long way to add to the overall impression of the meal. Desserts not a strong point but that’s not what you’re really there for. I still think Sepia still has the most flavoursome “Japanese” grill in Sydney, but Chaco Bar is a worthy and much more accessible (price wise too) option.
We need more places like this in Sydney: accessible, tasty, affordable, hip.
