Price: OK/Slightly high
We know one of the Chefs here. Both they and Berta's Head Chef used to work at Billy Kwong and despite what we think of Kylie (even before the foray into live ants) we know she employs good Chefs. So with that backstory we had high expectations for Berta but with limited scope due to a fussy birthday person it was like we went in and knee capped them before the race.
They change the menu frequently, what we've sampled may or may not apply so we'll cut to the chase. It was solid with flashes of very good. Some dishes definitely better than others (but how good can one make Asian greens other than "fresh"?).
We'll be back for a proper test.
(PS. Tuesdays there's something called "Sagra" which sounds like and Iron Chef "cook four courses ensuring this week's ingredient is in all of them for $55)
The potatos were slightly weird hot but very firm - either special skills or special potatoes.
Risotto cakes were good.
Beef tasty although not that soft, same applies to the pork
Polenta was good
Brussel Sprouts were good
Pears had too much alcohol
They probably could do with a bigger kitchen and another Chef to allow someone to spend time on desserts.
