Price: Slightly high / High
4 Course degustation
Scallop with goat’s cheese, cucumber, apple
Rock flathead with cauliflower, peanut & gherkin
Wagyu rump, eggplant, carrot & anchovy
Dark chocolate cake with raspberries, coconut, ginger & lime was what we were meant to get but somehow we ended up with rhubarb
We think more people would go if the entrees, mains and desserts were all $7 cheaper. Current pricing puts it up against some very big names price wise - maybe they're aiming high but it doesn't seem to attract customers.
Cara & Co would/could have scored higher if consistency was improved. The same dishes on different visits don't look the same, some elements (petit fours, amuse, dessert) were omitted or swapped from one sitting to another despite being a set menu. It's like watching professionals dance, if you don't know the steps it looks fine but if you do then you can see what's missing. Despite this, and as AH wrote, "Cara & Co is one of Sydney's most creative and tasty places to visit.".
Go there in case it closes before you get the chance.
