Price: OK ($40 per person - mind you we had one main each a shared a dessert between 3)
Service: Pass (but kitchen was ridiculously slow)
Duck - Not soft like we expect confit duck to be but not too bad
Pasta - Too sweet. Sauce tasted like tinned spaghetti sauce.
Beef - Ok but uninspiring. Didn't feel like there was much marbling. Could choose a better cut and cook it better at home.
Gratin - Really needed either more cheese or more flavour
Fries - Half fried. Too much salt. Fail.
Opera Cake - Would have been better if they paid attention to making the cake four times larger, less coffee and actual ganache instead of making white chocolate sails.
We had heard Ananas was getting good again and were keen to revisit.
Then we discovered they moved to Cafe Nice's location and were now called Cafe Ananas. Suspicious but we'll run with it.
We realised why everything was so underwhelming when we saw Fartelli Fresh on the bottom of the bill. Cafe Nice was underwhelming but it was better than this.
Maybe they were understaffed but it took insanely long... Two course meal in 2 hours.
