Price: Slightly high/high
China Doll started off slow and picked up its game as the meal continued. (Probably better than starting of great and fizzing at the end). It was a heavily subsidised meal thanks to competition winnings so that could have made us lenient but despite our dislike of expensive Asian food we thought China Doll was pretty good.
Squid was not great. Batter wasn't crispy and some of the squid was so overcooked it was crunchy.
Zucchini and corn was ok but unspectacular
Pork belly really good if you like sweet things (which we do)
Barramundi nice, thick and a very good quality piece of fish
Crispy skin chicken basically "shang dong ji" but softer and juicier than most other places (although again some inconsistencies as it wasn't all soft and juicy)
They gave use two over all the above dishes and only one of the dessert platter... could have given us more dessert...
Guava, marsala chai, peach sorbet - peach sorbet boring but the other 2 good.
Black sticky rice with coconut milk quince - very interesting take and worked well
Sago pudding with coconut and passion fruit - good
Order smartly and you could get out at around $30-40pp (or maybe less, serving size was decent) for food.
